Acupuncture & Dry Needling

Precise needling techniques to relieve pain and reset muscle function.

Treatment that gets to the point

We use targeted needling techniques to address muscle tension, movement restriction, and persistent pain. Whether you’re managing tightness, recovering from injury, or looking to optimise how your body moves, our treatments are designed to support real, lasting change.

Blending science with traditional wisdom

We offer both traditional acupuncture and Western dry needling, depending on what’s most effective for you. From sports injuries to chronic tightness, these techniques can help release deep tension and improve your overall function. No fluff, no gimmicks, just results that help you move better and feel better.

Dry Needling

A Western physiotherapy technique used to release deep muscle tension and restore normal movement. By targeting myofascial trigger points, dry needling helps reduce pain, improve mobility, and calm the nervous system.

At Good Physio, all of our physiotherapists are trained in dry needling and use it as part of a broader treatment plan when it is the most effective option for your body.

When it may help:

-Muscle tightness and knots
-Restricted range of movement
-Sports or training related overload
-Persistent aches and compensations

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is not the same as dry needling. It is a distinct practice rooted in Chinese medicine, requiring specialist training and education. At Good Physio, acupuncture is offered exclusively by Tristan, who has undergone advanced study to integrate traditional acupuncture with modern physiotherapy care.
Acupuncture involves the precise placement of fine needles along specific points in the body to restore energy balance, improve circulation, and support natural healing. It can help with stress, sleep, hormonal changes, pregnancy related symptoms, and recovery from illness or injury.

When it may help:

-Stress, fatigue, and sleep concerns
-Hormonal or pregnancy related symptoms
-Recovery from illness or injury
-General wellbeing and energy balance

We’ll assess whether needling is the right fit based on your symptoms, goals, and response to other treatments. If it’s not right for you, we have plenty of other tools to help.
Not necessarily. You might feel a bit of soreness for a day or two, but most people can return to normal activity straight away. We’ll give you any guidance you need post-treatment.
Absolutely! Combining needling with rehab or manual therapy often leads to better, faster outcomes. We’ll tailor your care plan to suit you.
No. Dry needling is a Western physiotherapy technique aimed at releasing trigger points within muscle tissue. Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine and requires additional specialist education. At Good Physio, all of our physiotherapists can provide dry needling, while acupuncture is only offered by Tristan.
Your physiotherapist will guide you. If acupuncture may be the best fit, we will refer you to Tristan for care. If dry needling is suitable, any of our physiotherapists can incorporate it into your treatment.
